To Our Summer 2012 Visitors:
Thank you for selecting The Lee House as your holiday retreat! We are delighted to have you as our guests. We wish for you to enjoy and appreciate The Lee House as much as we do. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
This amazing home was built in 1890 and has been owned by very few. In 1940, our maternal grandfather, Harry A. Lee purchased the property for his wife, Edythe Crompton Lee. Mrs. Lee was interested in running a business and thought a Sea Shore Guest Home was an appropriate line of work. She opened The Lee House to summer guests shortly thereafter. Our grandmother was extremely particular in regard to who stayed as her guest. Only family friends and acquaintances spent the night. As you can imagine, there were many rules, strictly followed. Mrs. Lee operated The Lee House as her Guest Home until 1992 when her health would no longer allow. Her daughter, Miss Martha Lee lived with her and continued with her mother’s tradition until her health failed in 2004. Since that time only occasional guests have visited The Lee House. In the last few years, we, Mrs. Lee’s granddaughters, have begun the refurbishment of this grand home to offer it to summer family guests on a weekly basis.
We look forward to hearing from you and until then wish you, happy summering and,
